• Listed rates between R2500 and R3500 for 4 people per night depending on the season. Please contact us directly for a quote and discounted rates.  Minimum 2 night stays. Every now and again there may be 1-nighters available. We will advertise these as soon as we know.

Amazing! Perfect place to unwind and relax in nature yet still have all the comforts you need. The attention to detail by the hosts was impeccable. 

Colette and Chris were absolutely fantastic hosts and thought of every detail. They also went the extra mile to make our stay special. (It was our 30th wedding anniversary and they went above and beyond our expectations.) Accommodation was tidy (perfect) and really had everything you could want and more. Quiet and peaceful. It was really music to the soul and we can highly recommend. We will be back again! 

We loved everything about the cottage. It was spacious and clean and had everything you needed. All the treats from wine to cheese platter and lots of books with information about the area and wild life. We saw lots of birds, mongoose and even a scorpion under a rock. Our hosts Chris and Colette were amazing we will definitely be back. Oh and the hot tub was amazing 

One of the nicest accommodations we have ever stayed in. Everything has truly been thought of here and decorated with great care. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and didn't really want to leave. The peace and quiet, the view, and the friendliness of the owners are truly unique. Thanks again, hopefully see you next time.

The house

A completely off-grid, 4-sleeper house surrounded by the Little Karoo bush. If you do need to work or share your experience with family and friends, there is wifi to keep you connected.

Living room

A sociable place to be, whether relaxing, braaiing or cooking. Open plan kitchen and kitchen island. A dining room table alongside the indoor fireplace / braai and a couch and loungers to soak up the views and tranquility.  

Stoep

Stargaze on the stoep hammocks or soak away your stress in the wood-fired hot tub. An outside cooker and fire-pit complete the facilities on the stoep.  The views are rejuvenating.. 

Around the house

The rock pond has a deck with some comfy seating under the shade netting. It's perfect to feel immersed in the bush. Grab a book for the outside bath and watch the sun rise or set. If you are feeling more energetic, the path is a perfect place to get some scenic exercise.  

Wildlife and insects

The cottage is surrounded by a huge variety of animals and insects. Our idea is to create a window into their world and watch them living their day to day lives. 

Winter and spring flowers

As dry and hot as it may seem, the display of colourful plants during winter and spring is amazing to witness. 

Where to find the cottage

A short dirt road leads you to the cottage once you turn off the R318 at the Journey sign.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS / INDEMNITY

Thank you for your booking at Exhale Cottage

1. Arrival time

   • From 14:00, unless prior arrangements have been made

2. Departure time

   • By 10:00, unless prior arrangements have been made.  We will try, as far as possible, and with prior arrangement, to allow our weekend guests a late check out on a Sunday.

3. Guests

   • Accommodation is provided for a maximum of 4 guests / as per the number of guests on your booking.

4. Septic Tank

   • We make use of a septic tank.  Please do not dispose of sanitary towels or foreign objects in the toilets.

5. Safety & Security

   • EXHALE COTTAGE celebrates the fact that there is very little crime in the area. However, we cannot accept responsibility for the safety or security of personal property. This is for the tenant’s own insurance.

   • We are not responsible for any injury to guests or theft of their property.

   • There is a security vehicle patrolling the area, which you might hear at night.

6. Rules

   • You enter Journey Farm / Exhale Cottage at your own risk.  Owners will not be responsible for any loss / damage / injury / death or claims.

   • Sound levels are to be maintained within an acceptable level, with a music-off policy by 22:00.  The cottage is built in an untouched, natural area, which is conducive to peace and relaxation and we trust that you respect this request.  This house is not a party venue.

   • Children must be supervised at all times, whilst swimming or not. We are not responsible for their safety or supervision. We also expect that you will supervise children in terms of respecting the establishment’s furniture, fittings and all aspects of the entertainment area.

   • Any breakages, damages or removal of contents of the property shall be for your expense. If necessary, please notify us on departure of your awareness of any aforementioned irregularities or malfunctioning equipment that you may have used.

   • No smoking is permitted inside the house. If you smoke inside the house you will be charged a R1500 cleaning fee in respect of curtain and furniture cleaning costs, etc.

   • Be aware that we have wildlife around the cottage.  Be careful when you are in the veld as there could be scorpions, snakes etc.  which could pose a danger to you.

7. Payment / Cancellation

7. • Full payment is required before a booking can be confirmed. 

   • Cancellation 100% refund if cancelled within 30 days before booking ; 50% refund if cancelled 15 days in advance ; 25% refund if cancelled 7 days in advance.  No refund if cancelled within the week before arrival.  We will try to move booking dates, depending on availability.
